This year, a large-scale project to improve the quality of education has been launched in 50 schools in the region. Tamara Duyssenova, the Deputy Prime Minister, got acquainted with the work of the updated participating schools of the project.
The main goal of the Otpan project is to provide access to high-quality education for students of urban and rural schools through the introduction of the best practices of BILIM-innovation intellectual schools and lyceums, as well as the modernization of the material and technical base of classrooms. The Otpan project involves 50 schools selected from different districts and cities of Mangystau region. The project, initiated in April this year, will last two years and will cover more than 60 thousand students and about 7 thousand teachers in the region. At the first stage of the project, the current state of classrooms in all schools was studied, and then a questionnaire was conducted with the participation of teachers, students and parents, as a result of which the needs related to professional development and the educational process were identified.
To date, subject teachers, educational psychologists, methodologists and school management are taking various courses and seminars for advanced training offered by Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and lyceums Bilim-innovation.
Entrance monitoring of academic achievements among students was also organized and conducted. Planned work is underway to update the material and technical base in classrooms. In particular, schools are equipped with elementary classrooms, laboratories, STEM classrooms, robotics and subject classes. Public spaces such as the library and the teachers’ room have also been changed, and classrooms for supporting inclusive education have been equipped. New classrooms of Art and TV studios have been opened.

During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister attended School No. 15 named after Ibash Zhanbolatova, then visited School No. 29 named after Fariza Ongarsynova.

The project pays great attention to providing methodological support to school teachers:

That is why we are implementing the Otpan project, under which we have united business, society, and government to provide maximum support to the school community,” Daniyar Toktarbayev, the Fund Director notes.
Successful implementation of the Otpan project has already been supported by the Ordabasy Group, NCOC, KazMunayGas JSC and Halyk, the private charity fund. In the future, this work will also be carried out in schools in Tupkaragan, Karakiyan, Munaily, Mangistau districts and Zhanaozen city.
