Otpan: Creating 50 Growth Points in the Mangystau Region

The Otpan project is an ambitious initiative aimed at improving the quality of education in one of Kazakhstan’s key regions. Launched in April 2024, the project reflects the commitment of the Fund for Sustainable Development of Education (FSDE) to providing equal opportunities for students of all ages and educational needs, regardless of their location—whether in major cities or remote rural areas.

Background

Despite rapid demographic growth and existing material and technical infrastructure in schools, the Mangystau region faces educational challenges, including the need to enhance teaching quality and maintain professional development for educators. The Otpan project focuses on integrating modern teaching methodologies, improving teacher qualifications, and creating conditions for the successful learning of students across all grade levels.

Project Funding

The project funding for two years amounts to 8.5 billion tenge (an average of 168 million tenge per school), including:

7.6 billion tenge for the necessary educational and material-technical equipment for 50 schools;
888.7 million tenge for methodological support.
