Google for Education: Over 200 Teachers to Receive International Certification
In 2025, with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Google for Education digital solutions system will be introduced in rural schools across the country. The pilot project’s first phase will involve 20 hub schools. The initiative will officially launch in the upcoming academic year thanks to agreements between Google and the Fund for Sustainable Development of Education.
As part of the project, teachers will receive training, rural schools will be equipped with dedicated computer classrooms, and internet speeds will be improved. To facilitate this, a tripartite memorandum was signed between the Fund for Sustainable Development of Education, the National Center for Professional Development "Orleu" JSC, and STEM Solutions.
According to the memorandum, the parties have agreed to collaborate on the integration of Google systems into Kazakhstan’s education sector. Aidana Shilibekova, head of the National Center "Orleu", highlighted the significance of these agreements:
“Today, the educational landscape is being shaped through the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders. I believe that the results of the memorandum signed today will be felt by school teachers and students in the near future. These initiatives will positively impact teaching practices, learning content, and school management processes, paving the way for a new stage in our development,” said Aidana Shilibekova.
Google for Education is a system developed by Google to automate educational processes in schools. It includes digital tools that help analyze students’ comprehension and task performance, as well as facilitate collaborative learning.
Starting this academic year, schools participating in the pilot project will begin using the full functionality of Google for Education. Additionally, nearly 200 rural teachers will be trained under the Google Educator program and receive international certification.

In his 2019 Address, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted a pressing issue — the growing disparity in the quality of education between urban and rural schools. The main cause: a shortage of qualified teachers in rural areas.
In response, Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (NIS), in partnership with the Foundation for Sustainable Development in Education, launched the initiative “Rural School: Powered by NIS” to ensure equal educational opportunities for all children in Kazakhstan.
The "Qazaqstan Khalkyna" Public Foundation was established to address pressing issues facing Kazakh citizens in key areas of life, complementing state support measures. The foundation's primary mission is to provide charitable assistance in areas such as healthcare, education, social support, culture, and sports.
When determining priority areas in education, it became clear that special attention should be paid to improving the quality of rural education. Recent statistics confirm its decline.
