The school in the village of Uryl in Katon-Karagai district, East Kazakhstan region, has been officially added to Google for Education's international directory of innovative schools. It is the first rural school in Central Asia and the CIS to receive Google reference school status.
The Uryl school now appears on the world map of educational institutions that successfully adopt digital technologies and innovative approaches to teaching.
The international recognition is the result of consistent work by the Fund for sustainable development of education (FURO) and its partners on the digital transformation of rural schools in Kazakhstan. The idea of introducing Google's educational solutions in rural schools was discussed by Fund representatives with Google two years before the school received its international status.
Today, teachers and students at the Uryl school actively use Google for Education digital tools, including Chromebooks, Gemini, and NotebookLM. Artificial intelligence technologies help students work independently on projects, analyze information, and acquire new knowledge, and help teachers improve the educational process.
The school's inclusion in the international directory of Google reference schools opens opportunities for exchanging experience with educational institutions from different countries and for spreading successful digital practices among other rural schools in Kazakhstan.
The story of the Uryl school shows that modern educational technologies and international standards of learning can be available to children even in the most remote settlements of the country.
